Wupperthal Town Tour
We will drive over the Pakhuis Pass to Wupperthal, a quaint Moravian Mission Station, which was founded by two German missionaries, Von Wurmb and Leipoldt, the grandfather of well-known South African poet, author, cook and doctor C. Louis.
On 31 December 2018 a fire caused widespread devastation in Wupperthal. The fire burnt down the majority of buildings, as well as 53 homes - only the church remained unscathed. The community is dependent on small-scale agriculture or livestock farming and a few residents produce rooibos.
We will also enjoy a picnic lunch under the huge trees in Wupperthal.
